What
exactly is Short Run Stampings?
Short Run Metal Stampings is a method of making tools and
dies by using inserts in Master Holders and Fixtures
instead of using conventional die sets. This cuts the
tooling charge and lead times dramatically.
How many
parts will this tooling run?
Our Short Run Tooling is guaranteed for the life of
the job. You never have to pay for repair or
maintenance.
Why
would you use the Short Run method over sheet metal or
conventional tool and die practices?
Our method of making insert tooling allows us to
facilitate smaller quantity runs over conventional
metal stamping methods due to the low cost of the tooling. We
can also cut the lead time of a new job dramatically
over conventional tooling. Short Run Metal Stampings versus
Sheet metal is all about cost. On a part under 12in. x
12in. our method could be cheaper than a sheet metal
shop by 50% or more.
What
about part Quality?
National Metal Stampings tooling method will produce
the same or better quality than all other methods of
fabrication.
How much
does the tooling cost?
National Metal Stampings refers to the tooling charge
as a NREC (non-recurring engineering charge.) For a
simple flat part with round holes about 2in x 4in we
would charge about $200.00 As the parts become more
complex the NREC gets higher but rarely exceeds
$4,000.00
What is an
average quantity run?
We have noticed over the 27 years we have been in
business 1,000 pcs is the about average per order. We
will run a few as 50 pcs per order and we have some
customers that order 30,000 at a time.
What is
your normal lead time?
Our normal lead time for reorders is 3-4 weeks.
Orders requiring tooling can be 5-10 weeks depending on
how complex the part is.
What
is your capacity?
We have presses from 35 to 200 ton capacity.
Do
you do any processing in your facility?
National Metal Stampings will do all secondary
processes in house (drilling, tapping, machining etc.)
We don’t do any heat treating, plating or finish
processing in house.
Can you
work to my sample?
Yes, we can work to a sample, print or electronic
file.
Can
you provide first articles?
We will provide first articles if you request them.
Please state that on the RFQ and PO.
Do you
Kanban parts?
Yes, National Metal Stampings has several stocking
programs available.
Can I
supply material?
Yes, either you can supply material or we can.
Do you
have design capabilities?
Yes National Metal Stampings would be delighted to
help in the design of your parts. Please contact us as
early as possible in the design process.
What
material types can you work with?
Cold punchable (does not need to be heated before
forming.)
Some of the more common materials we work with include:
-- Aluminum
-- Brass
-- Phosphor Bronze
-- Beryllium Copper
-- All Carbon steels
-- Copper
-- Berylco
-- Nickel Silver
-- Stainless steel
Most cold punchable plastics
And with a wide range of finishes and tempers.
What
is your quality system based on?
National Metal Stampings quality system is based on
ISO 9001:2000.
Is
your quality system certified?
National Metal Stampings quality system, based on ISO
9001:2000 is not certified at this time. We do however,
take every step to insure the ISO guidelines are
followed from constant training to system upgrading and
auditing.
Can you
supply RoHS compliant parts?
